I started the Edinburgh Fringe as a General Technician for Underbelly's Wee Coo venue. It was an intimate venue with a capacity of 60 seats. I helped with the venue build as it was the first time the venue was operating as a marquee (tent in the past).
As one of two general technicians, I worked alongside Front of House crew and performers throughout rehearsals and the first week of shows. During this time, I looked after the venue and performers - from changing the batteries in D.I. boxes to putting on the cleaning apron and doing housekeeping :)
At one point, I was the chief caterer - I brought in Fruit Shoots and oat crackers to help some of the performers with their comedic bit (that they change for every country they visit), and this must have caught on with other performers as I visited the Wee Coo with baked goods even after my time there.
